Immersive Meeting Spaces - Google

In 2021, I was contracted by a Southern California–based agency focused on environmental design to work on a large project with Google. Phase one of the project involved designing over 20 experiential conference rooms, each with its own distinct theme interpreted through the Google lens. I was responsible for developing the creative direction for five of the rooms, and my favorite by far was a concept called Mixtape.

That room pulled heavily from old-school boombox and cassette culture. I designed custom Google-branded cassettes, playful “how to make a mixtape” posters, and even a conference table engraved with an exploded cassette blueprint. The walls, props, and spatial details all worked together, and each room had the added challenge of positioning themed elements to subtly spell out “Google.” It was one of those projects where the details really mattered, and getting lost in that world-building was a lot of fun.

Unfortunately, the project ended up falling through just as we were approaching client sign-offs. The space was tied to One Westside, a former LA mall that was being redeveloped into a major office campus with Google as the primary tenant. Due to market shifts, the deal unraveled, and by late 2023 the site was taken over by UCLA for a research park instead. While it was disappointing to see the work not come to life, the process itself was still a meaningful creative experience and one I look back on proudly.
