Fun Type Studies

Lately I’ve been having fun diving into some new type explorations in Adobe Illustrator and Firefly, mostly just following curiosity and seeing where things land. Illustrator has added a few tools I hadn’t really touched before, like the Inflate option under the 3D tab, which lets you give type this puffy, inflated feel. It’s surprisingly satisfying to take something flat and instantly give it volume, very - press button, smile immediately hah.

Once I had some forms I liked, I started bringing that customized type into Firefly to push things a bit further. That’s where things really opened up. By sampling textures and found subjects, the type started to feel more tactile and dimensional, almost like it existed in the real world instead of on a screen. The mix of clean vector foundations with more organic, AI-driven detail made for some really unexpected results.

I checked out a few tutorials online to get the hang of it, then spent a couple of hours just playing - no real expectations, just experimenting. It’s been a nice reminder that not everything needs to start with a polished concept; sometimes just messing around with new tools is enough to spark something interesting.
